Analysis - DSN:



Through the analysis phase of the planning process, the DSNI determined that:

  • Implementation of the redevelopment plan would be under neighborhood control

  • Attainment of enough new and/or rehabilitated space to have a positive affect on existing and future commercial areas would be considered "critical mass".

  • There would have to be "simultaneous development of  new construction and rehab activity in a coordinated manner." (Medoff, 108)

  • There would need to be 800 to 1,000 new construction units and over 1,000 rehabilitation units.

  • Eminent domain would need to be granted to the DSNI by the city of
    Boston
