The Planning Process

Introduction:

The steps used in redeveloping a neighborhood are considered the planning process.  The general planning process consists of:

  • Problem Definition

  • Inventory

  • Analysis

  • Goals & Objectives

  • Alternatives

  • Recommendations

  • Implementation

At each stage in the process, feedback is required which can move the process back to a previous stage.

We will focus on the three primary elements of planning: Lack of viable residential areas, over abundance of vacant areas, and the elimination of commercial areas.
